Margaret started with Sedgefield in 1983 as an admin in a one-person office, before computers were readily available! In 1991, with the retirement of her husband David’s mother and father, the founders of Sedgefield, Frances and Karl Korstad, Margaret was named Vice President, overseeing all administrative and financial aspects of the company.
Eventually, her role with the company evolved into managing horticultural services. Her experience in all facets of the company’s operations has given her vast knowledge of the company and the industry in general, making Margaret uniquely qualified to provide Sedgefield with vision, operational cohesion, and efficiencies at many levels. More recently, in 2014, the management of all aspects of the Atlanta Division has been gradually turned over to her son-in-law, the general manager, Ricky McDaniel.
Houseplants were a favorite of Margaret’s before joining Sedgefield, but she had no idea that the industry would become a lifelong passion! Much has changed over the years, with the arrival of grandchildren and semi-retirement, however, the satisfaction of meeting with clients and training employees stands out the most. She still has a green thumb, growing her favorites at home, Orchids, and Aralias!
